A New Partnership to be Forged to Improve High School education for the Deaf

On the15th of September 2011, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology, will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to create the Pre-College Education Network (P-CEN), a collaborative effort designed to improve high school education for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in the ASEAN region.
P-CEN is a development of the Postsecondary Education Network-International (PEN-International), a multinational partnership of colleges and universities whose goal was to improve and expand post secondary opportunities for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students worldwide. PEN-International and P-CEN are both represented in the Philippines by De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, which is incidentally celebrating its 20 years of being involved with Deaf education in the country.
Through the generous support of The Nippon Foundation of Japan to improve secondary education for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in the ASEAN region, P-CEN will be able to build local capacity by providing training and support for teachers and support staff and by disseminating and sharing resources throughout the region.
