December 3, 2013, Tuesday, The Philippine Coalition on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities hosted the Launching of the Philippine Parallel Report on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, sponsored by AusAID Philippines and many partners and organizations at Association of Generals and Flag Officers (AGFO) Club, Camp Emilio Aguinaldo Quezon City.
Rey Alfred Lee, President of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf, opened the programme, followed by speakers on on the UNCRPD, Insights & Challenges in preparing a Parallel Report, Situation of Persons with Disabilities, Education, Social Protection, Women & Children with disabilities, Budget & Public Finance, Inspirational messages, and Enriching the report through experiences on the ground -- and last, the open forum.
Mr. Lauro Purcil Jr., Convenor of the Philippine Coalition on the UNCRPD, shared the situation of persons with disabilities before and after the CRPD with sign language interpreter, Liza Presnillo from Philippine National Association of Sign Language Interpreters.
Mr. George Lintag, General-Secretary of Philippine Federation of the Deaf, shared the highlights of right to Education, with voice interpreter Dr. Liza Martinez
Mr. Abner Manlapaz, President of Life Haven, shared on highlights of the right to Social Protection, with sign language interpreter, Roni Abat, from Philippine National Association of Sign Language Interpreters.
Ms. Shiela May Aggaro, Secretary of the National Organization of Visually Impaired Empowered Ladies (NOVEL), shared on highlights of the Woman & Children with disabilities, with sign language interpreter Bayani Generoso
Dr. Liza Martinez, Ph.D., Director of Philippine Deaf Resource Center (PDRC) and Philippine Alliance of Persons with Chronic Illness, shared the notes on Budget & Public Finance
