Deaf Voter's Education 2016

Voter's education was a student initiative and a part of their NSTP2 subject. It's aim was to stir the Deaf students' capacity to raise awareness on how Deaf people can learn how to choose their national leaders wisely. What started as a project gave way to a team oriented endeavor which proved to be not only a learning experience but a practice in advocating for their rights as Filipinos in terms of electoral process.

Their project involved researching on the legislation, providing Deaf people with their rights.Deaf students even made their own Vote Counting Machine through sheer ingenuity and creativity. There were also students assigned to prepare the module for their community engagement in Antipolo City, Fairview, Pasig and CSB.

In short, the students went from one place to another with the end-goal of raising awareness on the political rights of Deaf people especially those who have no access to education on such matters. --Ms. Tess Buenaventura

Discussion in preparation for Deaf Voter’s Education Program

There are sectors of society, who are often neglected and marginalized. One of them is the person with disabilities sector which includes Deaf people.

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde – School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies embarked on a journey towards raising awareness which would benefit not only PWD and Deaf Filipino but the whole Philippine society.

We even make a modified Vote Counting Machine (VCM) for our project.

We are trail blazers.

It is our hope that through this humble projects, we had contributed in nation building and advocacy of the rights of the marginalized sector

I am informed, I am responsible , I will vote wisely
